A story which began 36 years ago in a small town in India, Polyplex today has manufacturing and distribution operations in six countries India, Thailand, Turkey, U.S.A., Indonesia and Netherlands with active sales in all major regional markets/customers across the globe. Our dynamic expansion is driven by an inspired vision to deliver increasing value to our customers, employees, shareholders and communities.

POLYPLEX CORPORATION LIMITED

Polyplex Corporation Ltd. (PCL) is a Public Limited Company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange. Its Corporate Office is located in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi.

Polyplex's state-of-the-art R&D facility is also located in Delhi, NCR.

Its two manufacturing facilities at Bazpur and Khatima in the state of Uttarakhand in the foothills of the Himalayas have a combined capacity of:

  • PET film - 55,000 metric tons
  • BOPP film - 35,000 metric tones
  • Metallized film - 33,600 metric tons
  • Offline Coating - 257 million square meters
  • PET Resin - 77,600 metric tons
  • Holographic Films - 4080 metric tons
  • Transfer Metallized Paper - 83 million square meters

The Indian operations have a collective workforce of around 900 employees in its manufacturing, sales & corporate operations. Many of the employees in Khatima & Bazpur are housed with their families in the green and spacious residential townships adjoining each facility. The Saraf Public School, set up by Polyplex adjoining the Khatima plant facility in 1992, provides quality education to children of employees as well as those from local communities.

The Journey So Far

Polyplex commenced operation from its first PET film line in Khatima in 1988. A second line was added in 1996 taking the installed capacity to 20,000 tons per annum of PET film. The facility was also backward integrated to include the production of PET resin.

In 2002, PCL commissioned an in-house metallizer at Khatima with a capacity of 4,800 tons per annum followed by 3 more metallizers at Bazpur.

In 2007, a state-of-the-art coating line with an annual capacity of 160 million sq.meters for the production of Siliconised Polyester Release Liners was commissioned at Khatima.

In 2009, a new world-class, high capacity manufacturing facility was set up at Bazpur near Khatima with a state-of-the-art 8.70 meter wide PET film line, and its own PET resin plant.

In 2009, PCL also diversified into the production of BOPP film products by setting up a line with a capacity of 35,000 metric tons per annum at the Bazpur facility.

In order to enhance the product portfolio, the Company has commissioned two offline coaters in FY 2014-15 and FY 2018-19 respectively.

The Company has recently installed a laminating machine in India to facilitate Transfer Metallized Paper business and has also started six holography lines and a new metallizer for expanding the product basket.

Polyplex (Thailand) Public Limited Company (PTL) is a 51% subsidiary of Polyplex Corporation Limited and focuses on the Asia Pacific markets. PTL is listed on the Thailand Stock Exchange (SET: PTL) and has its Corporate Office in Bangkok.

Our manufacturing facility in Siam Eastern Industrial Park is located in Rayong close to the deep seaport of Laem Chabang in the Gulf of Thailand. It has an installed capacity of:

  • Thin PET film - 42,000 metric tons
  • CPP film - 10,000 metric tons
  • Metallized film - 21,700 metric tons
  • Silicon Coating - 550 million sq. meters
  • Extrusion Coating - 365 million sq. meters
  • Offline Coating - 70 million sq. meters
  • PET Resin - 1,06,050 metric tons
  • Thick PET film - 28,800 metric tons
  • Blown PP film - 13,645 metric tons
  • Holographic Films - 960 metric tons

PTL employs about 725 people in manufacturing, sales and corporate operations.

The Journey So Far

The PTL facility at Rayong commenced production in 2003 with an initial thin PET film capacity of 21,000 tons. In the same year a second PET film line with a similar capacity of 21,000 tons per annum was added. This was followed up in 2004/2005 with the commissioning of a batch-process resin plant and a continuous-process resin plant, thereby making it completely self-sufficient in PET resin.

In 2008, the product portfolio was expanded with the commissioning of an Extrusion Coating line with an annual capacity of 150 million sq. meters for the production of Thermal Lamination film.

With the start of the second Extrusion Coating Line, the annual capacity of Thermal Laminated Films has increased to 365 million sq.meters.

In 2009, a Cast Polypropylene (CPP) film line with a capacity of 10,000 tons per annum was set up, further diversifying the product range in packaging end-use segments.

By 2009, the facility had 2 metallizers for PET, and one for CPP film. An additional metallizer was installed in FY 2014-15.

A state-of-the-art silicone coating line with an annual capacity of 500 million sq. meters was commissioned at Rayong in 2011 for servicing the Pressure Sensitive Adhesive industry and another silicone coating line with an annual capacity of 50 million sq. meters was added in 2019.

In 2013, the Company has entered into thick PET film segment suitable for a range of industrial applications including imaging & graphics, photovoltaic and flat panel display.

The Company added two Blown PP film lines in Oct' 2013 and June’2018 respectively at Rayong, Thailand with the total annual capacity of 8,845 tonnes. The Company is in the process of adding third Blown PP line with the annual capacity of 4,800 MT.

In 2014, PTL has set up a liaisoning office in Korea and in 2018 in Japan to enhance its market reach and to service the customers more effectively.

The Company has recently added an Offline Coater with an annual capacity of 70 million sq. meters to enhance the production of high value-added speciality films. Two new Holography lines are under implementation.

Polyplex Europa Polyester Film Sanayi Ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi (PE) is our Turkish subsidiary with its manufacturing facility in the European Free Trade Zone located in the European side of Turkey at Çorlu, Tekirdag. Our presence here brings us close to our markets in Central & Eastern Europe and the Middle-East besides North Africa.

Our manufacturing facility at Corlu has an installed capacity of:

  • Thin PET film - 58,000 tons per annum
  • Metallized film - 17,700 tons per annum
  • PET Resin - 75,850 tons per annum
  • Offline Coated Film - 320 million square meters
  • Blown Film Line - 4,392 tons per annum
  • Holographic Films - 480 tons per annum

PE employs about 270 people in manufacturing, sales and corporate operations.

The Journey so Far

In 2005, operations began with a thin PET film line with a capacity of 29,000 tons per annum.

In 2006, a continuous process PET resin plant was added to feed captive requirements.

In 2008, a second thin PET film line with a capacity of 29,000 tons per annum was commissioned, taking the total capacity to 58,000 tons per annum of base PET film.

The two metallizers were installed in the year 2006 and 2008 respectively. An additional metallizer with an annual capacity of 4,900 TPA was installed in Feb 2015 to augment capacity as well as a portfolio of Metallized films.

In order to enhance the product portfolio, PE has commissioned an offline coating line in FY 2013-14 and another one is expected to be commissioned in Q1 FY 2021-22. To further augment the product basket, a new holography line has been added in FY 2019-20. A new Blown Film line is slated for startup in Q2 FY 2021-22.

In September 2013, PE incorporated a 100% owned distribution subsidiary in Turkey by the name of POLYPLEX PAKETLEME ÇÖZÜMLERİ SANAYİ VE TİCARET ANONİM ŞİRKETİ to facilitate better market reach in the local Turkish market.

Polyplex in the USA

In 1996, Polyplex moved closer to its North American customers through Spectrum Marketing, Inc., a joint venture based in Fort Worth, Texas, for warehousing and distributing Polyplex products. This entity was acquired in 2006 and renamed Polyplex (Americas) Inc.

In view of the growing American market demand and the absence of new PET film capacity in the US, Polyplex decided to invest in USA. In 2011, Polyplex incorporated Polyplex USA LLC and set up a green-field facility comprising of a thin PET film line (started in April 2013) and a PET Resin plant started in July 2014 in Decatur, Alabama. In July 2012, the Company has expanded its metallized product range by acquiring the metallized assets of Vacumet Corporation, a fully owned subsidiary of Scholle Corporation. With effect from January 31st, 2013, Polyplex (Americas) Inc. was merged with Polyplex USA LLC, Alabama (PU).

Our manufacturing facility has a capacity of:

  • PET film - 31,000 tons per annum
  • Pet Resin - 57,600 tons per annum
  • Metallized film - 9,250 tons per annum

PU employs about 187 people in manufacturing, sales and corporate operations.

Polyplex in Netherlands

Polyplex Europe B.V., established in April 2013 is a trading subsidiary, to service EU customers. It is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Polyplex in Indonesia

A new Company named "PT Polyplex Films Indonesia" has been incorporated in Indonesia on 11th October 2017 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Polyplex (Thailand) Public Company Limited. This is a Greenfield expansion located in an industrial estate in Serang towards the west of Jakarta and caters mainly to the domestic market in Indonesia and also the regional / other export markets. The manufacturing operations started in Q3 2019-20.

The Company in June 2019 announced a new BOPP line adjacent to the PET film line in Indonesia which would help diversify the product offering and provides an opportunity for the Company to grow in a familiar industry. The stated capacity of BOPP film plant is about 60,000 TPA. It is expected to be commissioned in H1 2021-22.

PFI employs about 215 people in manufacturing, sales and corporate operations.

  • PET film - 44,000 tons per annum
  • Pet Resin - 73,000 tons per annum
  • Metallized film - 18,000 tons per annum
  • BOPP film - 60,000 tons per annum
