Polyplex in USA
For the Polyplex Group, US has been an important market since early 90’s or so with a significant share in the total sales volume. In the mid-90s, recognizing the importance of this market, the Company had set up a Joint venture by the name of Spectrum Marketing Inc. (Spectrum). Spectrum started operations in early 1996. Spectrum was set up with the intention to become a distributor of Polyplex films in North American market. Since 2000, Spectrum has been able to increase volumes of Polyplex PET film sold in the USA.
With a view to:
- Taking control of the distribution in the key market of North America,
- Fully integrating the US distribution with its operations, and
- Accessing new markets, particularly packaging and converting segments where the progress has been slow,
it was decided to restructure the ownership of Spectrum whereby fresh capital was inducted by Polyplex Thailand in December 2005 and the name was changed to Polyplex (Americas) Inc.
